It’s never easy to know how to respond to racist comments. Simply trying to explain why something is racist and hurtful can often be challenging. I’m so impressed with this student’s ability to manage her own emotions in a difficult situation and then to communicate her concerns in an effective way. There are plenty of adults who are not nearly so mature.
