The following slide show can be both fun and educational regardless of what your nationality might be.

If you are a US American, it can be helpful to learn to see your own culture through the eyes of an outsider. It can be good to realize that many of the things that seem perfectly normal in one’s own culture are actually quite strange to others. It gives you the opportunity to reflect on the values and beliefs behind behaviors that you never think about.

If you are not a US American, it can be good to look more closely at both similarities and differences between another culture and your own. If a behavior or belief strikes as strange, press more deeply to see if you can try to understand the values and beliefs behind it. Consider what your own cultural values and beliefs are and why they are so different.

Reflecting on cultural similarities and differences is a great way to deepen your intercultural abilities!
